Confirm fitment before choosing wheels

Use vehicle-specific specifications and check offset, center bore, wheel size, brake clearance, hardware and load requirements.

Fitment note: A bolt-pattern measurement is an estimate and bolt pattern alone does not confirm wheel compatibility. Always verify the exact vehicle year, make, model and trim plus center bore, wheel diameter, wheel width, offset/backspacing, brake clearance, lug hardware/thread specifications and load capacity before purchasing or installing wheels.

How the Bolt Pattern Finder Works

A bolt pattern combines the number of wheel studs/lug holes with the pitch circle diameter (PCD). For example, 5x114.3 means five lug holes positioned on a 114.3 mm bolt circle. Some patterns are commonly written in inches too, such as 5x4.5 for the same nominal PCD.

How to Measure a Bolt Pattern

Lug countMeasurement used by this finder
4 lugsMeasure center-to-center between two studs directly opposite each other. That distance is the PCD.
5 lugsMeasure center-to-center between two adjacent studs. The finder converts that chord measurement into the estimated PCD.
6 lugsMeasure center-to-center between two studs directly opposite each other. That distance is the PCD.
8 lugsMeasure center-to-center between two studs directly opposite each other. That distance is the PCD.

Common Metric and Inch Bolt-Pattern Equivalents

Some inch and metric notations are treated as common equivalents because their nominal PCDs are very close. The finder keeps the calculated PCD visible so you can see exactly what was entered or measured.

5x120.655x4.75
5x1275x5

Bolt Pattern Finder FAQ

What does PCD mean?

PCD means pitch circle diameter: the diameter of the imaginary circle passing through the centers of the wheel studs or lug holes.

Why does a 5-lug wheel use a different measurement method?

With five lugs there is no stud directly opposite another stud. This finder therefore uses the center-to-center distance between adjacent studs and converts that chord measurement into the estimated bolt-circle diameter.

Is 5x114.3 the same as 5x4.5?

They are commonly treated as equivalent notations: 4.5 inches converts to 114.3 mm.

Does a matching bolt pattern guarantee that a wheel fits?

No. Bolt pattern is only one fitment dimension. Center bore, wheel diameter, wheel width, offset/backspacing, brake clearance, lug hardware/thread specifications and load capacity must also be compatible.
